Generator Docking Station with Interlock:

A reliable and cost-effective way to power your home during an outage using a portable generator. This setup includes a mobile generator, docking station and a breaker interlock kit installed at your electrical panel.

When utility power is lost, simply connect your generator to the docking station and use the interlock to safely backfeed selected circuits in your home. The interlock ensures that the generator and utility power cannot be on at the same time, providing a safe and code-compliant solution.

This option gives you the flexibility to power essential circuits—and even rotate larger loads as needed—without the cost of a full standby generator system. It’s a simple, dependable solution for homeowners looking for backup power with more control and lower upfront investment.

What’s Included:

  • Permits & Inspections: Obtain required electrical permits and coordinate all final inspections.
  • Portable Generator: Furnish and supply properly sized portable generator compatible with installed docking station, selected to safely power designated circuits during outages.
  • Generator Docking Station: Furnish and install outdoor generator inlet (weatherproof, properly rated).
  • Breaker Interlock Kit: Install code-compliant interlock device at existing panel to safely isolate utility and generator power.
  • Electrical Wiring: Install dedicated wiring between inlet and panel, including proper conduit, fittings, and terminations.
  • Panel Modifications: Install and label generator backfeed breaker and update panel directory accordingly.
  • Grounding & Bonding: Verify proper grounding and bonding in accordance with current code requirements.
  • Testing & Startup: Test system operation and verify proper functionality of interlock and connected circuits.
  • Customer Demonstration: Walkthrough of system operation, including safe generator connection and load management.

Warranty

Portable generators come with a 2-year limited or 3-year limited warranty (depending on the model). They cover repairs that result from product defects and parts that require premature replacement. For more information on the warranty process, see Generac’s website.
